Tax employees walk for charity

in Human Resources

More than 400 employees who work for Dallas-based tax services firm Ryan walked a collective 183,535,657 steps and raised $9,000 for charity over the summer.

Forty-two employee teams from three countries and 30 cities participated in the organization’s Step-It-Up Walking Challenge to walk the equivalent of 92,768 miles in May and June. The winning team got $5,000 to donate to its favorite charity, the Houston Women’s Center. Second- and third-place teams won $3,000 and $1,000, respectively, for their chosen charities.

Employees tracked their steps with pedometers during the challenge, which execs say combine the organization’s twin goals of employee wellness and community outreach.
