Could co-workers benefit from a little more interaction? At public relations firm Conover Tuttle Pace, employees swap desks for a few weeks to spark cross-company chats and fresh ideas.
How they do it: The firm holds a draft. Every desk is up for grabs during the swap. Each person draws a number, with lower numbers corresponding to the best offices or desk locations. It helps people exchange more ideas, and the agency becomes “smarter.”
The president of the agency, Fred Conover, liked his new spot in a large, open work area so much that he stayed there after the swap. “I just become a little bit more aware of what’s going on here,’’ he says.
