Microsoft is working on a new technology, dubbed Street Slide. And from the looks of the demo, it would revolutionize online maps.
The new technology allows users to “slide” along a street—rather than jump from snapshot to snapshot, as in Google Street View.
As you glide along the street, you can zoom out or in for a better street-level view of shops or focus on a single building.
For business travelers, there’s another benefit to the cool tool: A series of info-graphics above and below the street image will point out storefront logos and building numbers, to help navigate a neighborhood.
In tests, people found specific addresses 17 seconds faster using Street Slide vs. Google’s map tool.
