If you have business partners who regularly refer clients to you, consider a list swap: They get your client list, you get theirs.

You could then send a letter or e-mail that begins something like this: “As a courtesy to clients of [your partner’s name], my company is offering …” It could be a discount, a complimentary report, a free consulting session. This can be an extremely effective prospecting tool.

Make sure to run your promotion by your partners before you send it to their clients.
