It’s a warm August afternoon, and you’re beginning to feel sleepy after sitting in a conference room meeting for more than an hour.
Been there? Helpful pointers on how to stay alert during long meetings:
Plan ahead by outlining questions you need to ask during the meeting that will help you reach company goals. Remember that you’re in the room for a reason. Come in with a game plan, and you may get more out of it than you expect.
Eat smaller portions at lunch. If you eat a large lunch, your energy is focused on breaking down that food.
Manage your caffeine intake. Three cups of coffee gives plenty of motivation in the morning, but the afternoon “crash” will suck it away.
Jot down the meeting highlights to stay actively engaged with the discussion.
Open a window for fresh air.
