I think a wonderful way to enhance your visibility and responsibility within your company is to be prepared and honest. Several months ago I was overwhelmed, several things were being stacked on my plate. I wasn’t able to show the reports I needed to and even worse for starters I didn’t even know how to effectively gather that information. Over lunch with a good friend we were discussing ways to get out of this slump and she told me about software they use at her office. Thank goodness! What a difference it has made in my office. Lucky for me management could see my frustration and that I was also an asset to the company they weren’t ready to loose and went ahead and purchased (company wide) software from http://www.fpweb.net/crm-hosting/
that my friend mentioned. Months later I’ve cooled down, reports are a breeze, tracking information is much more simplified and I’m also able to do so much more. Showing management our company issues/struggles and how to be more organized and prepared really earned me bonus points. I could have just continued on and let things fall through the cracks.
I agree with Mark adding maybe postives and negetives about the career I was thining of, any needed degrees or certifications and maybe reputable companies in areas I was looking to know where to apply
have you tried surveymonkey.com to get some of the info you may be needing to look into? Also, what does are the employers saying?
I would ask what is the market for this service and can I make a living at it?
I know that if I was thinking of changing careers, two of the most important factors to me would be: 1) What is the average starting pay for the new career, and the average experienced pay? 2) What is the estimated job demand for this career? (Are there more positions than people to fill them, or the opposite?)
