Question: I read Personal Report for the Administrative Professional every month for career and work tips. But what other resources are out there for an ambitious admin who wants to better herself?  -- Josie, Virginia

Take a look at the IAAP, its a great organization, links to education, opportunities, etc. Read Joan Burge's new book - Inner Circle Assistant - it's filled w/assessments, learning situations, advice that are up to the times and will give insight to the Admin field in the future.

Lysa - what is the website and thanks for the info.

us.deskdemon.com has some interesting articles and a lot of useful tools and links. You can also opt-in for a free e-newsletter called "Admin Advantage" on the upper left hand portion of the screen. I find some of the articles to be useful.

Josie:
My boss subscribes to a publication titled "Executive Leadership" and I susbcribe to Avery's Great Results newsletter. Both of these are excellent resources for issues/problems we experience in our day-to-day jobs. Additionally, IAAP membership can provide you with some of the best experience and networking opportunities in our field. Their website is www.iaap-hp.org. The IAAP Complete Office Handbook is a resource I use just about every week.
Good luck in your position.

Hi: Another great resource is the National Association of Executive Secretaries & Administrative Assistants (NAESAA). They put out an awesome newsletter once a month that's packed with great strategies, software info & tips and wonderful articles all about administration. They also have free webcasts from time to time... And do check out IAAP - their magazine OfficePro is really great as well. Hope this helps!
