There is an option that you can see what the progress is, but that would be if someone was tracking their progress on the task monitor. Otherwise, he can create his own tasks to follow up on the process. OR he can assign the task to both of them. Himself and the person incharge of completing.

The direct reports can go under Tools, Options, Delegates, and give your boss access to see their tasks. Then he would be able to see their task lists. My boss uses the task list frequently. She assigns tasks out and progress is documented in the body of the task. Each time the task is updated an email is sent to her telling her that the task has been updated and she can view the progress at that point. There are also times where she assigns a task to someone, they complete their portion of the assignment and it is ready for her to take action, so the task is reassigned back to her. Any time progress is documented, the person enters the date and their initials and this information stays with the task as it is being reassigned.
