Are courses available that teach professional organizing skills?

Question: I would like to take a course(s) on Professional Organizing to enhance my administrative professional skills.  I've already checked with NAPO (National Association of Professional Organizers), but I’m still searching for "live" (not online) courses that I can take.  I've also already checked Skillpath, Fred Pryor and any number of seminars.  I've found nothing.  Any suggestions on how I can get thorough training on being a professional organizer? — Pamela A. Hope some of these help, Pamela!

Try www.organizeittoday.com....this is a website and business started by a gal who used to work here...a good monthly e-zine is available with tips on a personal and professional basis.

I just took a great course through Fred Pryor Seminars called "Managing Multiple Priorities, Projects, and Deadlines". It was a "live" course and the instructor was fabulous. There were a lot of great ideas on getting organized and it has really helped me in my job.

The professional organizers I know received their thorough training in college. However, if this is not the route you want to take, the organizations you already checked definitely have courses that would help you but it sounds like you may need to take a few of them to get all of the information you need. I have taken a number of courses through Skill Path and never walked away knowing "everything" from just one course but gathered great information from each one attended. Heather offered a great suggestion - the "Managing Multiple Projects..." is an awesome course Skill Path offers and you might also want to attend "The Indispensable Assistant" course and the "Administrative Assistants Conference" through them.

I've been taking absolutely wonderful courses from Pendaflex Learning Center at www.pendaflexlearningcenter.com.
Great communications with the instructor and other students through the message board. You will take a short test at the end of each lesson, and get your score immediately after submitting it. At the end of the course, you can download your certificate. The last time I looked, there was a course posted on how to get organized. Check it out.

Hope this helps!
