Q. How do I share Microsoft Office templates? — Lydia
A. If your organization does not use SharePoint, which enables sharing of files and file libraries, instruct anyone who wishes to share your templates to open them from a network drive. Furnish them with the instructions to save what you send them as a template in their own Trusted Templates library. By saving them to their own library, they can use the templates just as you do.
There is another option, as well. In Office 2007 applications, you also will see the option “New from existing” under Templates. This would allow you to choose a template or document from anywhere and use it just as you would a template from your Trusted Templates library. So when you select “New from existing,” it makes a copy of the file for you to work in and not put the original at risk.
