A fake smile could be bad for your health.
According to a study recently published in the Academy ofJournal, putting on a game face can actually worsen your mood and cause you to withdraw from work.
While “fake smiling” had a negative effect, “deep acting” had the opposite effect. That is, when people generated authentic smiles by cultivating positive thoughts and memories, their moods improved and productivity increased.
And here’s the really interesting part: Women were affected more than men.
Bottom line: Cultivate genuinely good thoughts at work by remembering people and places you love.
