Overexposed meat manager costs supermarket $300,000

Dave’s Supermarket will shell out $300,000 to settle sexual harassment charges after it failed to act swiftly to address a misbehaving meat manager at its Lee-Harvard Shopping Center store on Cleveland’s east side.

The problems began when meat manager Jugoslav Vidic started sexually harassing female employees. In one case, he exposed himself to a woman. According to the complaint filed with the EEOC, Dave’s never investigated the complaint.

It was only after another employee complained of harassment that the company fired the meat manager.

Ultimately, four women filed complaints about Vidic’s exploits. Those four will now split the settlement. Additionally, Dave’s has agreed to a two-year consent decree during which it will train managers and supervisors about sexual harassment, post an anti-harassment notice in the workplace and report any harassment complaints directly to the EEOC.

Note: Quickly, fairly and professionally investigate every harassment complaint. Harassing employees will continue to harass until there are consequences for their actions.
