Deloitte has added several programs to attract, develop and advance its minority women employees at the auditing and financial consulting firm. Examples:
- Through “assignment reviews,” the organization ensures that client service teams include women and minority professionals, and that they are assigned projects that provide them with visibility and opportunities for growth.
- Female, minority managers and senior managers are assigned a “career sponsor”—a partner, principal or director who is accountable for their career development.
- The company’s Women of Color Survey included 4,000 women of all races to identify barriers women of color may perceive in the corporate world and develop solutions for overcoming them.
National Managing Principal Barbara Adachi says the firm’s focus on a diverse workforce is “a smart business strategy we continue to pursue, even in a turbulent economy.”
