Home-improvement giant Lowe’s is offering free health screening to its employees. Lowe’s partnerships with health care providers throughout Ohio mean employees will be able to get free checks of their blood pressure, total cholesterol, triglycerides, glucose, waist size, hip size, weight, height, body-fat percentage and body-mass index.
Lowe’s representatives said the results should help employees stay healthier and help the company control costs in its self-funded medical plan. The company has been a leader in the retail industry in pushing workplace wellness.
Lowe’s operates 79 stores in Ohio.
It recently announced that it will fully cover heart surgery costs at the Cleveland Clinic for any Lowe’s employee (or family member) from anywhere in the U.S. and Canada.
Note: It’s legal to collect employee medical data for the purpose of conducting wellness programs, but confidentiality rules still apply.
